We are planning to move in during third / last week of August; looking for short rental. Tried in the commercial sites but couldn't get desired. Any suggestion from CD members will be gratefully appreciated. Thanks
I strongly suggest that you start off with a basement. There are plenty of basements available and are cheap like $800 per month inclusive of Cable TV and internet. The reason is that in most places in and around Toronto you do not sign a lease agreement. You could vacate after 60 day notice. In many good apartment building they look for your employment history, bank history and some times credit history. For example in my new location they want an income of Gross CAD 30,000Per Annum for a two bedroom apartment of rent $900 per month with parking extra of $50 per car.
You could post your requirement in the classifieds and then some one will respond. You could move in look around and then move on to place of your liking.
Please note there are locations where you could rent to buy. That is if you rent a 3 bedroom townhouse (renovated) you would pay around $1250 per month of rent of which 50% goes towards your down payment on the property, while 50% goes towards the rent. After a certain period say 3 years, your down payment is covered from your rent, and you could arrange a mortgage for the balance of the time. Some of these locations come with good built in basement the only problem is they will not have a separate entrance to the basement.
There are many options available but will be quite difficult for you now, but these difficulties will disappear away once you have a stable credit history.
Question to Real Estate Experts: Are there such rent to own locations available in Mississauga/Molton/Cambridge/Burlington locations ?.

Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....
"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"
