You have the BEST Machine in your house and may be on the whole block. It will be the envy of the town. Enjoy using it.

I just have one small question. Please read the price in the link below. Lowe's of Cannabis were selling the same (or is it a similar one) machine up until sixteen months ago for $170 plus Tax. Why did the price shoot upto 600 bucks plus tax now? There is a stainless steel bowl or is it POT?!! they are selling with it. That calls for a Market place investigation. Call CBC and whisper in their ears.

Well, I will now check "Alibaba" for the Chinese version of the same and hope it is 110 volt 60 cycle one.

Well buddy, similar and same are two very different things. Its all in the technical details. Artisan series is in the lower scale for Kitchenaid stand mixers, hence the price. The professional series which is usually at $399 to $499 can be bought on sale for around $299 to $350 if you are on the look out. Then in the professional series is the 5 series and the 6 series and according to that, is the price. Hope this explains.

We have to understand that everything is not a conspiracy. Some things are priced for a reason and somethings happen for a reason. I can buy a HiPhone for $50 on Alibaba but have to pay $600 for an iPhone at the Apple store.

Stand Mixers are wonderful. Before buying one I was under impression that it might work well for large quantities only, but works really well even if we use to make only 8-10 roties.

It makes the dough very homogeneous, much better than hand kneaded one, and the roties it makes are great!

Thanks for your inputs friends .

Our plan is to knead flour for rotis only , no cake or cookie dough baking or any other mixing .....

Wondering if a bread maker which is much cheaper will fit the bill as well ...

Appears that the bread maker also has a different container where you put in the flour / water -it has 1 or 2 paddles in the base which knead the dough ... appears to be as less messy as the stand mixer ... once flour is kneaded , you take the container out ...just like what SS shared above ....

Do other people have good or bad experience with bread makers for kneading dough ??

Though I was initially tilting towards a $80 - $100 stand mixer but now Kitchen Aid takes the stake up to $300/- and a bread maker costs $60/- ...

It is a pleasure to see that the Kitchen Aid Machines do come on sale for under $200 once in a way and when it shows up in the stores it will be nice to go for it. It will last for generations, that is the best part. If you do not use it regularly, then it becomes a show piece and then gets tucked under the kitchen sink.

Artisan GRADE is a good machine and falls into the upper middle range in their own products and with their current plastic coated attachments and the kneading hook, the process of making roties or baking a pie or a cake, or a Pizza, becomes a breeze. But as time progresses the enthusiasm slowly wanes and I am left out of the kitchen for a short while and I have branched into Forums and chat lines.

Kitchen Aid or any other machine falls under the category of Rotor-Stator blenders and the top of the brands have an ORBITAL rotor that will provide a sufficient amount of Homogeniety in a brief period of time. It calls for, more when you blend it with Yeast, and other hard grains in the bread mix. Such as multigrain bread or a Russian loaf or Rye bread. If you don't then you will end up with hard bread and with lots of holes in its texture.

So, if you feel you can overcome all of these in the Bread machine or an hand held device or other Kitchen machines, then you can live with what ever that you currently in possession of. Here is a decent one within reach and you can also wait for a sale when ever it happens.

Also a little bit of tender touch will enhance the taste and the texture of the product. That is why they call you a CHEF.

Good Luck.

I was in town after filing my tax return, to meet with a friend. We both shared this tax software, as it permits to share. (8 returns) And I happened to meet an old friend of mine there and we both headed to 7600 Weston Rd. I picked up a few croissant at that location. Adjacent to it there were our regular Rotis and the brand name was Santosh. It was a sealed Ziplock bag*. It contained 10 such in it. They cost me $1.89 each OR 19 cents each. I felt it was a very good buy! Hence this note under the topic.

* After you break the seal it will permit you to close it and reuse the same.
