Hello CD members,
Yesterday i talked to my dad in Tamil nadu and he told me that my uncle had called him up and told him that there was an agency recruiting (in Tamil Nadu) Truck drivers to be sent to Canada. The deal was that prospective people pay a sum of money and they will be trained in Truck driving for 4 months in India. After that it seems that the agency told them that they will send them to Canada and give them support to get a licence here and and a job.
My uncle had asked me to find out if this was legitimate business in Canada and has asked for my approval so that he can give the agency the money and get his two sons as Truck drivers to Canada. It seems that the agency will not divulge its Canadian address.
I am therefore asking our CD members if this sort of thing exists in Canada (esp. i suspect Alberta). Can the agency get work permit for these guys to bring them to Canada? Is there any law in Canadian immigration to allow these kind of people into Canada?
All answers will be appriciated.
Thanks.
TK A
Afternote : Param->Thanks for the thought. I will look through immigration consultnat site for details. Maybe my Uncle's agency is through them. I did a google search and i found that Immigration Canada actually has a program to bring foreign trained truck drivers to Canada. I found Saskatchewan and New Brunswick having a PNP for this. NB recruits 100 foreign trained truck drivers per year and they need people with 5 year long haul truck driving experience and sask. wants people with 2 years truck driving exp..
Update : The agent is in Andhra. He has 100 acre piece of land used for training truck drivers. He does not guarentee your passage to USA/Canada but he is sending people often to USA/Canada. No information yet regarding the money he charges.

I am a Gents and not a Ladies.
Driving Trailers results in big moolah. Most truck drivers in Canada earn as much as experienced IT Professionals. In the Yukon Area, I know of a coupla of fella's. They drive god cars and live in big houses, in decent locations.
Mr.KT, you can also try driving a trailer sometime. It might be better paying and more exciting than a draftsman's job. :)
One more thing, truck driving comes with its perks. The nightlife of truckers is something to talk about. Interested, what say KT ??
Best wishes,
King

There might be a demand for truck drivers in Canada, but this has SCAM written all over it. For one, why does the agency not want to give its contact/ office address in Canada?
Trinity
this happens when the company is paying commision to hire drivers..if the guy goes and get employed by himself..the agency loses money.it is a smart move by them!
Yes "kashish_jaan" is right.
