The information was useful. Any more suggestions from others would be appreciated. We are in toronto.
Hi,
I actually shied away from having a large gathering on the first birthday......... the birthday baby is usually tired and cranky by the evening with a large crowd, is usually too small to play for long with other children, and certainly not able to appreciate the grand shindig parents have done in his/her honor.
We invited some of our close adult friends (about 10 adults). We all baked and decorated the cake together (castle cake) - from some angles it did look like a castle and we had hooplas of fun making it and incorporating everyone's ideas. Our daughter just happened to be the only child (since no one else had kids). She got non-stop attention from all adults, loved every minute of the 2 hours and danced non-stop.
Ever since she turned 3, we have moved the focus from adults to inviting her peer group. So far we have celebrated her subsequent birthdays at ChuckeCheese, Bowling lane.........this year I am planning at the solar stage theatre. I found that Humber Arboretum also does birthdays but October is a bit cold for anything outdoors!
Hope you all have a wonderful day however you celebrate it!!
Rashmi.
