I'm not sure what you mean. If you mean doing extra curricular work activities outside of the 5 days a week of work I do anyway, then I do that already...in my own home. This is not about money at all.
Thanks.

I probably have 1 coke/pepsi(prefer the non-diet version) about once a month if at all. A 24 crate of soda lasts about a year in our household of 4. Sometimes the kids have upto 2 soda's a month....that's rare though.
another link...scarier than the first

This is a good suggestion. For people doing office work from say 9-5, you could do an additional 3-4 hours of work in the factory. The plus points are, you get to meet new friends, do work for money, do CPP contribution / EI benefits/RRSSP and in return lose weight/ tone up your muscles.
UPS is a good way to start. They do offer flexible timing work. It is usually 4 hours for 3-4 days a week.
I have worked in UPS for a day but had to give up since it was a loader job (Unloader job is much better). Besides there are tons of factories where you can do part time job. You get paid excess of $ 8 an hour.
In my case, i worked in a factory for 1 month (Full time) and then quit the job to take a 2 month vacation. In this period , i overate and came back to the same weight that i was before the factory job. So the key here is Moderation. Anything excessive is not good. 2 hours of factory work a day is good moderation.
Suggessions from Guru's about this welcome.

Are factory workers the fittest people in the world?
. Do brick layers have the best developed muscles in the world?
You are probably going to workout just a specific set of muscles at the expense of the others. At the same time you will have to replenish all the expended energy.
Also since one has no control over the size/weight/dimensionsof the boxes etc...there is more scope for injury. What about the cardio?
Rest is as necessary for weight loss as exercise and diet. After a 5 day work week i do not exactly recommend that people head for the factories on the weekend. Go cycling with your family instead...or the like. Anyway it may be a better idea to workout 5 day/week for 15-20 minutes than hit the factory for 2 hrs every weekend. Sure, it beats sitting 2 hrs in front of the TV tho

Thanks Jake for the links...I am trying to get someone to limit their intake of diet cokes....I feel that anything artificial always comes with a price,no matter how good it may sound to be true.... if aspartame is so good, why are we still using refined sugar? I am not saying that sugar is good either....but atleast its natural... the limit on intake is always upto us.

Agreed. Also, If you notice, carbonated drinks are on their way out. Even if you look at market trends, the manufacturers have now started realizing this and are focusing their budgets on producing non-carbonated fruit based drinks. Thankfully, these are also being eliminated from vending machines at our schools. I think that as a health initiative, companies should stop stocking these for free. Where I work, there's about a 2 dozen carbonated drinks stocked for free and the fridges are everywhere.
Sure, a coke with a pizza is great once in a while. In North America however, people actually replace water intake with these drinks (I've been guilty of doing this myself in the past). As of now, I've stopped consuming this almost completely. Hopefully my health will reward me for this when I'm 60

Moving this topic to the "Health and Wellness" section, prolly more appropriate there.
