Hi to all Sakhis,

This is my first summer in this beautiful city if Toronto and with a new place comes finding out what happens where...so guys I need your help. This Friday is varalakshmi pooja..I am hoping that somebody from the sakhi team would be able to help me to find out where I can go to participate in this pooja..that is if it happens in temples and stuff..looking for temples in Scarborough, Richmond Hill side or else if anybody knows of any priest who comes home and does the pooja and also charges nominally.
thanks in advance,
bye

This is like the Karva Chauth for South Indians. Its done for the well being of husbands.

Hi all,
This is not the equivalent of Karva chauth, but it is a very important festival for all the South Inidan married women. This is observed on the friday preceding the full moon day of the month of 'sravana' ( August mostly). Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped in the form of Varalakshmi, ladies buy gold, silk sarees, perform pooja and cook 9 dishes and offer it to goddess. This is believed to be a very auspicious pooja which gives all the prosperity and well being of the family.
Hope that helps

When our people will come out of this type of myths?
They will never change?
