Use AutoTrader.com to search for used cars and dealers.
Dealers can be found in plenty at :
Steels/Weston
Keele/ Finch
If you go for private sales (advertised in Toronto star) you can save 7% on Taxes and maybe get it cheaper by $1000 for every $5000 price of the Car.
A car sales auction is also a good place to buy a cheap car. These are the also the cars that dealers buy and sell it to you at a hefty profit.
Remember there are some bad eggs in the soceity (esp. in car selling) and so be careful.
If buying a used car, always check the car with a mechanic. Many Mechanics (private) do this check for $50.
I bought from a dealer and overpaid around $1500 but it was convinient. I saw the car at 7:30 pm and bought it at 7:45 pm. I came back after 2 days at 7:00 pm and drove the car away. The dealer himself did the name tranfer and bought the plates and fixed it. Costly but at that time i was new in Canada and was commuting by bus and working 6/7 days a week and working around 10-12 hrs. a day and so the dealer option was convinient to me.

For the rate you are thinking Honda is out of the question. For Corolla you may get this price ONLY if it is a Private sales and an Accident car (and mostly also a standard car only).
Your price may only buy American car.

All the best! You really need that! I wouldn't trust anyone when buying a used car, not even private sellers. Some private sellers can be worse then dealers. BE specially careful if you are buying a used car from a high volume GM, Ford, Chrysler, Honda or Toyota dealer. I used to work in car sales, trust me I know all their dirty secrets. In short, Trust no body when buying a used car in this country. Compared to Canadian car dealers, Indian car dealers in India are saints!

Just checked the web site, craig list, the listing of jobs there, has ony one tried it before ? Comments ? Is it worth to invest time in sending resumes there ? Sorry, no offence meant but i have never heard of this web site before so just asking.
