Is it possible to sponsor my mother and one younger sister and brother only leaving my father and older brother behind. Can my mother be a principal applicatant in this case. My father doesn't want to immigrate because of his mother (my grandmother) living with him. My older brother is 26 and not a full time student. Can we exclude both from the application?
You can sponsor your mum alone [the principal applicant]. Your younger sister will be the accompanying dependent. Your dad will be the NON-ACCOMPANYING dependent but will have to undergo medicals. Your brother will not be eligible anyway.

How long it takes to get the Parent Immigration from India. I heard the time has been increased to three years.
3 yrs if there's no interview. Otherwise add 6 more months.

Thanks for the reply.
Is there any chance that the time will get reduced?
In August it was around one year and in November 2003, it was increased to 36 months. Ironically this is for India only, all other countries has a time frame for 24 months only (including China and Pakistan)
Another question, why there is need for interview in case of Parent immigration when the sponsorship papers are already being approved.
hard to predict what will happen to time frame. It depends on volume & staffing at the embassy.
there are many reasons for interviewing parents. ... but only a minority is interviewed.

Dear Masoodji,
I have been going thru your valuable replies to all sort of immigration queries.
Sir, I would be grateful if you can address the following :
I am sending an Application kit to my parents who will further submit to CHC, New Delhi.
I have few queries for you :
* The form IMM0008 Schedule requires the birth date details of my grandparents (the parents of my father). Unfortunately we do not have the birth dates as this is an century old issue. HOW TO HANDLE THIS ISSUE ?
* I wish to fill in the form IMM 5476 related with Authority to Release Information. There is an question in the end which asks " Is this authorisation in connection with an existing application ? " I am confused what to tick. whether YES or NO. If YES what to write in the name and location of the Office.
I look forward to your expert opinion on this matter so that I can forward the forms to my parents and initiate the countdown to the minimum 3 year waiting period.
Regards and thanks in advance,
Manan
