Hello Experts,
I became Canadian perminent resident in Feb 2006 at Vancouvver port of entry. Now I don't have any plans to settle in Canada, but after few years I will settle in canada.
I am working in US on my H1B VISA. I will be going to US Consolate in Vancouver to get "my H1B VISA Stamping done", and after that I will come back to usa. In this case I will only be staying in canada for 2 days.

I have the following questions, kindly help me in this regard:
1. Purpose of visit?
2. Why were you in US after you got your PR Card?
3. Do I need to declare any thing.? I am only carrying documents and 4 pairs of cloths.
3. Do I need to go thru canadain immigration, after customes check point?
5. Why did you go back to USA?

Thanks in advance.

Also kindly suggest me of any other questions the customs/immigration officer is going to ask me?

Best regards,
Meera

Why did you apply Canadian PR when you did not have plan to settle in Canada?

I don't want to start a fight here, but don't you think your quetions are stupid? I cannot believe that a person like you can get Canadian PR. There must me something wrong in selection process.

You already mentioned in your post that you work in the US under H1-B and you are asking people in this board to tell you the purpose of your visit to the US. If you are talking about your purpose of visit to Canada from the US, it says in your post too, to land as Canadian PR. Your questions #1, #2, and #5 are pretty much the same.

The following is the conversation I had with the officer at canadian border:
Officer: Purpose visit?
Me: Just said settling in canada (did not mention that I am going for stamping)
Officer asked me: Did you find a home?
Me: Not yet! will stay with my friend.
Officer: Did you find a job.
Me: I will look for a job soon.

I know its hard to get a green card in USA, but I prefer staying in canada for 3 years and apply for canadian citizenship. Later you can always come back to USA.

Hope this help! I am more than happy to help you guys if anybody needs help.

Thanks for A2A.
Well, honestly speaking job offer is not mandatory to immigrate to Canada. There are few popular pathways to immigrate to Canada without a job offer such as Express Entry program, provincial nominee program, and investor program.
Let us discuss these programs in brief one by one.
Express Entry Program
It is an excellent option for individuals planning to move to Canada without a job offer. It was primarily created for skilled workers who want to immigrate to Canada permanently. To be eligible under the Express Entry Program, you should have at least 12 months of work experience in a skilled occupation while scoring the required 67 eligibility points on the Canadian Immigration Selection Factors assessment grid. You are also required to meet the English or French language proficiency requirements.
Later on, after meeting these requirements, you’ll be required to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) into the Express Entry pool. If you are picked from the pool, you will be invited to apply for Permanent Residence.

Provincial Nominees Program
If you do not fulfill the Express Entry standards, you may still be eligible for Permanent Residence under the Provincial Nominees Program. Each province and territory in Canada have its own program, therefore you must investigate the program criteria for the province or territory in which you wish to live.
The key prerequisite for most provincial nominee programs is a work offer from a Canadian business. However, in a few provinces, there is an Expression of Interest category. It simply means that you can file an EOI even if you don't have a job offer.
You must apply for Permanent Residence once you have been recognized as a provincial candidate. You must also fulfill medical and security criteria. If you don't know any panel-approved physicians in your area, you can search for them online.

Investor Program
If you have a lot of money and wish to invest in Canada, you should definitely consider moving to Canada under the Investor Program. This program is designed for persons with a high net worth who want to invest in Canada and become Permanent Residents.
To be eligible for the Investor Program, you must have a minimum net worth of CAD 1.6 million and you must be willing to invest at least CAD 800,000 in a Canadian business or government security. However, these figures may vary according to the policy changes. Meanwhile, you are also required to meet the English or French language requirements.
If you fulfill these qualifications, you are eligible to apply for Permanent Residence under the Investor Program. Here, you’ll also be required to sign a performance agreement with the Canadian government before you may participate in the Investor Program. This agreement requires you to invest your money for a period of five years. If you fail to satisfy the requirements of the agreement, you may be obliged to pay a penalty.
There are several things to consider while applying for Permanent Residence without a work offer. In addition to satisfying all of the qualifications and criteria, you must be mentally and physically well.
In case, you have more queries and doubts regarding Canadian immigration, I would suggest you seek the help of Canadian immigration expert. They’ll easily help you to smoothly sail through the process.
