Without knowing the circumstances, it sounds like the parents and the kids had a cultural and generation gap. I dont think sending someone to live in India is the way to deal with rebellion. This does not create a better relationship between the kid and his/her parents.

I highly doubt all kids in India are perfect angels either !!

In Surrey today, RCMP hold few Indian or indo-canadian guys for having company who makes fake credit cards. They have 11000 customers all over country. They are running that manufacturing from home. Police found out nice machines that make credit cards.

The newspaper did not indicate any Indo canadian involvement.
The names given sounded otherwise.
