Hi,
First of all, I am really thrilled to find this site.
Its a great help for people wanting to move to Canada.
I am Subhash from Bangalore. I am working for SEI CMM Level 5 MNC in Bangalore, with around 5 years of IT experince.
My permanent residence application for Canada has been approved and my immigrant visa expires in April 2004.
I am planning to visit canada in the month of January to finish the landing process and process the PR card. I will be staying there for a weeks time.
My concern is that, I do not want to leave my current job here and relocate to Canada without having a confirmed offer. Thats because I already have a good job here and would not want to trade it for "no job".
My plan is to finish the formalities first and keep trying for jobs, and only when I get a confirmed offer I will leave my current job and relocate to Canada.
Could anybody here please let me know abt the current job market in Canada for Techies and how I can go about finding a job.
Is it possible to look for a job from India and get a confirmed offer.
If I could find a job by the time I come there it would be great since I would be saving a lot of expense.
Regards,
Subhash
You will not be able get any of the cards (PR or SIN) in 1 week's time.
Quote from the link below:
"The above are some of the reasons why it is not easy for any educated immigrant to easily get a job of his liking here in Canada and to overcome that employers use the phrase \\\"Canadian Experience\\\" - but yes, if you are in a field which is badly needed here (like Oracle implementation of latest versions or a strong combination of finance and IT), new immigrants are seen to get good jobs soon after landing!"

Hi Subhash,
Let me know which IT area you are working currently. You are working in any of current high end IT area I can arrange for a Telephonic interview before you start landing here.If you qualify in telephonic interview client will ask for a face to face interview and if they like your profile and other soft skill they might offer you job immidiately
IT market is picking up both in USA and Canada but only in some high end area. You ccan explore in another option. If possible apply for H1B job in USA from India and then immidiately after landing and getting your PR card you can move to USA ....if you show USA experience getting a IT job in Canada will be farely easy...I got a IT job in my own area within 7 days after moving back to Canada from USA.....but everything depends on your technical and soft skills
Thanks

Hi Ani,
Thanks for your help. I have sent a mail to you.
Please let me know if any other details is required.
Hi Rajcanada,
Thanks for replying.
But I believe once we land in canada there will be some amount of verification and processing done. After that it will be mailed to the address given(for new immigrants it will be sent by mail).
In fact my brother-in-law who is in US has called up an immigration attorney in Canada and confirmed this.
Its based on this premise we are travelling to Canada.
So, we are only planning for a week long stay.
Please let me know if anybody thinks otherwise.
Thanks,
Subhash

Are you there?
Hi BlueLobster,
But actually we have planned to tell the CIC immigration officers that we are going to be in Canada for only a weeks time.
I dont think that should be a problem because as per the current immigration laws it requires that u have to be in Canada for 2 yrs in every 5 yr term to preserve the permanent residency.
Regards,
Subhash
