Hi CDs,
This is further to my earlier positing( March, 2008) about ERP market: Myths and reality.
The reality is that the hype about ERP market is good for this so called ERP institutes). They will grab your hard earned money by promising moon. I spend around one year in Canada before going back to India, on good offer. I am SAP consultant with hands on experience. before landing in Canada in early 2008, I was having lot og hope about SAP market in Canada. I thought that I could land up in good job offer with in couple of weeks.
Slowly I came to reality. That Canadian IT market is very small and especially ERP market is very very small. Very few openings were there and those positions will be filled by people with vast experience in that field. So freshers and less experienced people never get an entry. These so called institutes promise moon and people will end up loosing money.
I hv taught in one of the colleges as Instructor to meet my ends. I found that the teaching methodology and knowledge of Instructors are very poor and most of the instructors are either no practical experience or without consulting job.
Now the situation is worse due to global recession and getting an entry in to ERP job is even more difficult.
So guys think twice before getting enrolled into these institutes.
best wishes,
prasad
it has been 6 months since the last post...any updates on the ERP landscape today ?

I fully agree with the gentleman who posted a clear cut view on SAP and job market relating to that.
I am myself a SAP Trainee. And to be certified. Along with me 10 students attended this course few years before. In Mississauga.
Of them mostly Pakistanis. And few Indians.
Out of 10 one cleared the exam , exclusively devoted for this. He could get a job in Ontario , Canada on contract for few months that too after certification and waited for more than 1 year.
And he was fired subsequently And went into depression after that. Senior guy .
I think, in Canada getting SAP jobs at the entry level is very difficult. And our own desi guys who r already well settled in this line won't help.
Recently I saw one ad in indeed.ca. That advertised SAP with experience for 13 $ per hour. Labour job could fetch you, more than that, if you r fork lift driver or well experienced general labour and can lift 50 pounds..
This is the ground reality.

DDPraveen, Ontario Government (Ministry of Government and Consumer Services) hires Peoplesoft folks from time2time (both functional and technical). You should check everyday and apply when something comes out.
