so .. some kind of profiling has already began.... watch out for more of these stories

This is really unfortunate.

However, I do not personally believe that 'racial profiling' is involved.

Last month me, my wife, my brother and his wife went to visit Las Vegas for 4 days and no where we faced any problem. We took flight from Buffalo and changed planes in Atlanta, Chicago and Cincinnati and though every where the security was very tight but we did not feel slight problem or harassment.

We had booked our tickets through expedia much in advance and I was told by someone at the counter that any time you book a flight for US, the travel agent has to send information about you to the Homeland Security Department and they check your name against a huge database and if you have not done any thing wrong in US like overstaying on an earlier visit or something, you would be cleared and would not face any problem. May be this Gentleman may have some old record in US or only by chance his name may sound similar to some one who may have had some record in US. But none the less, he should have been given refund for his ticket if he was not allowed to fly.

There was no issue because your relatives took/boarded flights from within the US. and in this case, this gentleman was entering/travelling to US. so there are some extra considerations involved.
but I agree, it may not be racial profiling 100%

So what was that? the person is a Canadian citizen.. with all valid documents and that too "Indian" ... interesting and unfortunate isn't it ?

May be you are right as we did not board the flight in Canada. However, we did cross border by car to reach Buffalo Airport. But may be they are more strict in case of Air Travel.

This case and the Meher Arar case shows that even if u have a canadian passport, it does not matter. Arar is also a citizen. We all know what the RCMP did.

This is definitely due to his race. Just because thousands other travel without incident does not mean racial profiling doesn't go on. Fact is , there are no rules , no laws, no morals in any US govt. anymore. This is govt. run by liars and murderers for the benefit of their cronies and crooks.
When the president lies with straight face after murdering thousands of American soldiers and god knows how many iraqis and not a peep out of scared shitless american ppl, what else can you expect from foot soliders of this murderous junta standing on the borders ?
democracy, morality and decency in USA has been dead for past 6 years. it died under attack by other set of murderers and buried by this regime of crooks and rapists..
