Seriously, when people talk of dual citizenships, I wonder the exact same thing. Where would your loyalty lay? It's all fun and games when you swear in presence of God and the judge for the passport.

It depends, like PP says, on the reasons for war. e.g: If India is run by a fascist tyrant/ ideology, many would probably go with Canada and support the indian rebels(there is bound to be the same). Vice versa if Canada was ruled by a fascist tyrant/ideology.

Ultimately it depends on which side of the spin you identify and relate with. After all the notions of patriotism, loyalty etc are abstract. In ones mind, one can be as loyal to a country by siding with the occupier as with the rebels.

e.g: Japanese before and after the war. Many identified with the 'emporer' and traditional beliefs before...and after they helped(or in the least collaborated with) the occupying forces rebuild the nation to greater heights by identifying with capitalist and democratic norms/systems.

One can also be a concientious objector( e.g: Muhammed Ali vietnam war)

Nothing is black or white. Even the borders of countries change very often...be it a skirmish or full-fleged war. All we are then left to debate about is an actual 'claim' to land.

Why ? Because that is my dharma . When i adopt a country i automatically inherit all rights and duties . So when i was in India i tried to live  like a good citizen, and the same when i am in Canada.

It is the same situation which Arjun faces in Kurushetra when he has to fight his own family . Krishna advises him to do it because it is his dharma to do so.

Or may be like Bhishma and his life long paradox read 'dharma sankat' of preferring the Pandavas and being with the Kauravas .It sure must not have been an easy thing for him.

Loser , would you continue to side Canada even if it was on the wrong ? Would you not wish to side the right side whoever it may be . Would you rather see you motherland at defeat against a wrong opponent . ?

Keep pouring in your philosphies please but the mood is expected to be light.
