The citizens of Iran and Afghanistan left there country of birth as they did not agree with the "Crazy clerics" similarly you can leave Canada if you find any government policy unacceptable.

Citizenship is like Marriage. You accept the good and the bad of your partner when you do the Sat Pherey.

Within acceptable(to both partners) limits.
e.g- physical abuse, infidelity(i.e: breaking of trust) etc.

You guys sound like some crazed clerics crying about an 'absolute' religion/god .

I could also do my patriotic duty as a citizen to oppose the policy which I believed was wrong for Canada. :p. Its my country and a democratic one that will listen to my voice.

Luckily for me I DO NOT have to leave due to some crazy clerics unlike in Iran and afghanistan which were/are hardly democracies. Maybe you should form your own fascist country 'greencard loseristan' or something...where you can go imposing your absolute patriotism.

I think the thread has lost its meaning due to people being too much attached to 'what I say is right' attitude . I am sorry to observe that it has again become a 'I said this , you said that'... kind of a discussion which if continued would eventually get locked.

I wish we can be more mature in our discussions citing reasons rather than arguing for namesake. Please guys mature reasons will always sound more impressive and we must take all the people in the discussion to let it flow . Lets avoid this dominating spirit .

I guess there are finally 2 viewpoints which have emerged - If your motherland was at war with Canada then you should be siding Canada as a principle since you have agreed that as an oath and more as a loyalty . If Canada says 'fight against India ' then we dont have much choice . Or else we bend our principles . Aka Karna / Bhishma .

And the other view says that side the righteous , even if you have to bend your loyalty .For upholding of righteousness is more important than loyalty . Aka Vibheeshan.

Just recalled even Krishna instructed Arjun in the Gita to fight for righteousness over wrong , good over evil , dharm over adharm.

The take is yours and the matter is subject to the individual. I personally would be a Vibhishan rather than be a mute spectator of Bhishma .

I want the cultures of all the lands to be blown about my house as freely as possible.
But I refuse to be blown off my feet by any.
