Applied for citizenship in July 2006. Did my test 2 weeks back at St Clair in Toronto and Today had my Oath ceremony. Smooth going./
Seems that timelines are speeding up now.
Congrats DesiSkyWalker! Good luck
I would like to raise a thing here and It may not be the appropriate thread to write this. Since I know all of you, I write this here.
I frequently drive to states and 99% time canadian border officers are nice. I came through a different experience today at sarnia border when I drove back (First entry into canada with my canadian passport). The officer at the port seemed to be grumpy and his line was longer than any other line in the port of entry.
He asked where I was born. I told him India. In my passport, they mentioned my birth country as IND. He told me that he thought it is Indonesia. He asked what I bring into canada and I replied him that I just have my belongings in the car trunk. He gave me customs yellow slip and asked me to drive into customes lane. Then two officers came and started to check my car(It went for only 3-4 mins). One officer tried to know whether I do contract for chrysler or not. He repeated the question twice. I replied that I do contract for IBM and not for Chrysler. Then they asked me to go and then I drove back to Toronto.
Is it a normal thing? If it happens in USA side, we can understand because they check cars randomly most of the time. And also, I am a citizen now and Do you guys think these canadian officers are jealous about us and just get pleasure in the way checking our car? Or Am I too sensitive? I really didn't like his Indonesia comment.
Please share your thoughts
Regards,

Took our Citizenship test. We took our Citizenship test at the Mississauga CIC office. We reported there at 3.00PM. There were about 50 people. More than 80% were people with Pakistani Passport. There were a sprinkling of european whites, lebanese and we were the lonely Indians.
We were given token numbers, and our passports of the last 4 years were thoroughly checked and every stamp was checked and if any question on them they were asked by the checker for clarification. As we did not leave the country it was easy for us. Many others had a hard time explaining many stamps and some of them had their passports taken and photocopies made by the checker and attached to the application. It took about 1 hour to check all the passports and we were allowed to take the test at 4.05 PM. The test was for 30 minutes with 20 questions. It hardly took us 5 minutes to finish the test. The test papers were scanned and we were informed that it would take anywhere from 7 to 9 months from 20th Nov to get our oath.
Will keep updating on any further developments/oath and other issues related to this thread.

This is wierd if i must say so. When you go for the test they tell you clearly that it will take 60 days to get the oath letter. i got mine within a week.
my friend who is pakistani also got his in a week. another bangladeshi pal applied 45 days back and got his test also.
i am surprised that you have been waiting since oct 2006???
I suggest you call them and check
Thank You Desiskywalker for your concern.

Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....
"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"
