Just wondering, how many desi guys travel/vacation in North America (US/Canada)?I am not sure about Canadian Desi but in general US Desi they never traveled/vacation a lot whatever people I know.
Mostly guys just visit friends/families but never traveled (vacation) but they project like they traveled or did vacations but have no clue what is good in that city and what/where to see if you ask them.
But I know few families they are really good in travel/vacation plans once/twice in a year. They visited lot of cities and national parks.
We vacation every summer. Destination depends - sometimes within NA, once every 3/4 years outside of North America.
Sometimes we visit friends / family, but plan a vacation on the same trip. For eg. My wife has her brother in Phoenix, previously when we visited them in Winter, we've gone to California or LA on the same trip. So it's like a 2-in-1.

I agree with the OP that almost 99% of the Desi's that i know in Canada, Gulf, USA and SE Asia have never taken a vacation to see places. Most of them are busy in saving money for the future.
I am a Desi who has not been able to take a Vacation due to lack of leave and financial constraints.
Otherwise, my wish is to visit major cities of USA and take a tour of Europe.
I am not interested in visiting the Carribian or Cuba or even Mexico.

I think quite a few Cd's vacation regularly. Most of my desi friends in Montreal travel to places locally and around the globe on a yearly basis.
Sometimes minivacations can be fun too. e.g. this neat ski slope and a quaint hotel on the top of the hill. It was built by one of Napoleans decendants or something like that...very victorian ambience. Nice place for any Montrealers who are interested and looking for places besides mt.tremblant.

I am looking to visit Cuba this year with family and I am requesting folks to share their experience of their visit.
I visited Bahamas last year with my family for a week, I limited my visit to Nassau and Paradise Island. Stayed in "Atlantis" resort, the best resort I have seen my life.
Over all the trip was very pleasant and satisfactory. Also when I shared the deal information with others, they said it is very very cheap. If some one is looking for pointers on Bahamas visit, I could share the details.
4 days in Atlantis including flight return fare for three, paid $2560.
Well, if any of you have visited Cuba, please share your overall experience whether it is OK to visit with a 7 year old kid (my daughter) who should also enjoy the trip.

Just wish I had more time - and I think that is the main constraint for most folks here. But we make it a point to travel overseas twice a year and NA mini-vacations twice a year too. Not to mention the camping / cottage / ski / festival etc every other weekend.
Mid-summer this year will be Australia (winter there) and probably one of the Caribbean islands in or around thanksgiving.
