The article states that one child has a 10 yr Indian visa and the other has the PIO. The parents FORGOT to take those MOST ESSENTIAL documents with them. So the parents knew about the entry requirements. This is sheer carelessness on the part of the parents.
The airlines should have denied them boarding and they did not. That was negligence on the part of the airlines.
Immigration complexity, judgement about the entire issue, rudeness of the Indian immigration officials, perceived or true racial prejudice - all these resulted from the carelessness of the parents.
You know what they do in Brazil and Mexico when you enter without proper documents? They put you in jail first and then figure out whether to talk to you or not. Of course, Mexico can be bought off with USD. Brazil is another story.

Rightly so. The parents should have thought abt it. May be they though US passport has more value than anything else in the world.
Also we are getting one side of the story. India issuing transit visa is news to me. Never heard it before. Normally people get tourist visa to get to India, whether they stay for 6 months or 2 days.

Well, if the same thing had happened at US immigration , we would have said "The immigration staff did their duty by deporting the people without proper documents but if India does the same, then we bash them "
Why can't we ever appreciate what India Does.

We will find a way or we will make one

News to me that if a country refuses entry because you have no visa, you can complain to the National Human Rights Commission!
