Hi
I'm interested in knowing what it would cost to rent a store space in a strip mall or a plaza in Mississauga. We're looking for anywhere between Dundas/HW10 or Bristol/HW10. My cousin has just landed in Canada and wants to start his business. What can he pay for a store space about 400 sq ft?

Do you mean 400 sq ft? Depending on the exact area and location of the plaza, you're looking at around $1500-2000.

Mods,

I have nothing personal with the two posters. Nor do I have anything to do with the posters whose posts have been deleted. But advertising is not allowed in charcha. You have always been very prompt in deleting any post which is 'direct' advertising. It is this sort of subtle advertising which goes unnoticed. The OP needs some office space. This could have gone in the wanted space of the classifieds. And as expected the reply is nothing but advertising.

Overall charcha is to benefit the CD members at large. I fail to see how if someone needs an office space and a realtor asking to send a PM would help CD'S.

Just my opinion. After all this is your site and you are the final authority.

Iceberg,

I'm just trying to answer this poster's inquiry. Yes I do agree he should also post his inquiry in the Classified Section but he's asking a very general question regarding obtaining space for his business. I asked him to PM me as there are a lot more things to consider when leasing a store space (use of the space, type of business he wants to run, taxes, zoning restrictions, insurance/maintenance costs, parking restrictions etc etc etc.). I'm not sure if he wants to discuss this openly on a public forum so I asked him to PM me. If he does or does not, it's totally up to him. This discussion group is here to inform people and also help them in their respective questions. If the Mods feel that this is not right then by all means edit the posts as you see fit as this site is run by them and that decision is up to them.

I do agree that his post should be up in the classified section first which I'm not sure if he's done that yet or not.

Vim,

Iceberg has been absolutely right in pointing out that this is subtle advertising. From your very first post it has been evident. One of your initial posts had been edited by me to remove the link to your web, but within a few hours you were smart enough to move your link from your post to your signature.

There are other people on this website like Rajiv Narula and Mr Chopra who are in the real estate and mortgage business, but all of them have first contributed to the development of this site and then they were permitted to put their web site link in their signature. However your very first post was misleading (about getting exorbitantly high returns on investment into second property) and also contained the link to your web site. While you might say that you have been helping in increasing knowledge of the readers about real estate market, but I fail to see anything new from you and believe it or not, I have been able to note that all your posts are basically direct/indirect advertisement.

It is very clear that all you want from this forum is customers.....without any intentions of contributing to this site and I sincerely hope you will refrain from that. I for one am all for getting and giving business to desis.........but only to them who consider their community as theirs and are ready to help, NOT only looking for ways to get customers from there.

Chandresh

I'm sorry you feel this way. I've been frequenting this site since about June and just recently saw that there was a forum where we can discuss various issues affecting CD's. I don’t think that all my posts are "direct/indirect advertising" and I’m sorry you have this view. Some of my initial posts might have come across this way but lately I think I'm providing some worthwhile insight that I've gained over the years. If you read through my posts you can see this. My posts are also not limited to just Real Estate. I’m trying to help other people in other areas as well if I feel I can address their questions or concerns. I find this discussion forum to be helpful for all CD’s and I think it definitely is a site where CD’s can gather a lot of valuable information about living and settling in Canada and to make their transition a smoother one. I will also remove my website link from my signature if it is a problem.

I'm sorry posters. I was not looking for a place as of now. I was just leading my research on how I could cut costs when I embark on my enterprise and apart from asking to PM him, Vimal Patel has helped. When I was looking for a suitable answer and waiting for one, there has only been one reply to the thread which has in a way answered my question.
I was not looking to rent a place. I was calculating costs for my business plan and the real estate agent and his agency doesn't have much to do with it once I have my answers. Thus posting in the classifieds column would be utter foolishness.
Arguing about advertising doesn't answer my questions.
