Cold. You will need jackets. You can buy them here as you would get them at good 'end of season' prices. Even now some stores are selling winter clothes cheap as the long term forecast is for a mild winter.

Usually March-April are windy and cold. Ocassionally you will see some warm days though.

Snow storms are also possible during those two months.

Dear All,

Thanks for the responses.

Regarding accommodation, finally I have 2 options - Sunnynewcommers & Jessica's Guest House. Valuable comments are welcome so that I can decide the final one.

Thanks & Regards,

Uday

Dubai...in exchange of some sun filled days from Dubai....heres some good advice.

Check out http://www.safehomestay.com/.

Excellet place to stay. Friend of mine stayed there for more than a month.
Ideally located in Don Mills near Fairview mall (habibi...that means in the city)....TTC at doorstep (TTC yani public transport comprising of Bus,Streetcar or subway...in this case 24hrs bus service that connects to subway). Really clean and family joint.

Its like an furnished appartment (Golden Sand 3 or 5 kinds) but with shared bath. The family that owns it comes in the morning daily and cleans the common area and bathroom.

As for list...put everything that you can think of in it. Need advice on what to bring and what to sell to used furniture buyers in Karama....heres the advice - If its from IKEA...dismantalable - then bring it. Get everything from your kitchen. Even dustbins (throw your lulu supermarket plastic bags away for god sake).

Small things costs a lot. even a toothbrush holder.

But then if it is list...you can just say...household common .

I idsagree with another member who said "Dont open an account". Go ahead and do it as soon as you land. Infact the same day. Get a secured credit card from any of the banks. Use it in Burjuman - but then pay it promptly. If you dont then the shurta from Al Riffa will not call you and say "Taal Rafik" - worse. You get a bad credit rating that stays for 7 years.

Bored, Confused. PM me with any other question you have or help you need.

BTW lived there i.e Dubai for 12 years and shifted last year to TO.

So all my info is current and valid.

Regards

I disagree . But thats subjective.

Please dispose as much of ur goods as possible before starting .Moving costs will lop side any cost benefits you may think you will make .

Also DO NOT open a bank account if you are planning to go back . As this would constitute 'residential ties with Canada' and make you liable for income tax. Take a PR / Take a SIN but no more ~ health card / drivers license / bank account all constitute proof of ties with Canada .
