For those who desire to worry about something that may apply 28 yrs down the road, here it is.
We all know that a child born outside Canada, to at least one parent that is a Cdn citizen, is a Cdn citizen. However, if the parent(s) was also born outside Canada, then the child, although, becoming a Cdn citizen, will lose the citizenship at age 28, unless the child (now an adult) explicitly applies to retain the citizenship.
This obscure provision of the law is intended to prevent generations of people possessing Cdn citizenship but would potentially not even have lived in Canada. Also, this provision became law and is applicable to people born on or after 1977.
Globe and Mail has reported that these 77ers are now realising the impact of this law.
Maybe the citizenship cert should mention an expiry date to help out these people.

Yes, the citizenship certificates issued in 2007 will have the expiry date on it for these people to whom this law applies.
