Hi,
My wife is coming to Halifax via Toronto on Air Canda (N Delhi -Tor-Hlfx) for the first time .
I assume the customs clearance should take place @ final destination ie Halifax but someone who has recently travelled , states it has to take place at port of first landing in Canada , Toronto being in this case .
That means , get the baggage off the conveyor belt , go through customs @ Torono and then submit it again for Halifax .
I wish to validate this from people who have travelled to Canada for the first time to cities other than their first landing .

The immigration and customs formalities are done at the POE, i.e. in your wife's case, Totonto. Afterwards, it is just a local flight.
Fido, immigration and customs is always at first point of entry. In your wife's case Toronto, not Halifax.

I was under the impression that she would undergo transit till the final destination and visit Immigration only upon that .
Also pray explain , whether the PR formalities would also be conducted at Toronto in which case I would have to confirm that the time b/w 2 flights is enough .

Realization has dawned that customs follows Immigration .... so obviously all PR formalities will be carried in Toronto.
