Hi ,
I am planning to move Ottawa or Toronto in may2007 as PR . I am looking for few friends in Canada, who can guide me for initial days. I am 9 year exp Tech professional.
I am planning to move Canada for 15 days and want to apply my PR card and SIN and come back to India. I am newly married and having contract job in India till Dec 2007. I want to stay in India till Dec 2007.
I am planning to stay to my friend place and stay with him for few Days.
Can I open my bank account?
How much time takes to get my PR on friend place then he can fed-ex me on India?
Can I leave Canada after filling all documentation or wait till I get my PR in HAND?
I have problem with current employer, I am not able to get more than 15 days leave. ?
I am coming with $15000 ($10000 draft and rest in traveler check).
What kind of cost is going to be happening in 15 days?
My target is to complete my documentation and come back to India for 6 month till my contract with company end.

Do not open bank a/c . You will be liable to pay income tax for the period, you are out of Canada also.

It takes about 4 weeks to get PR. You need not wait in Canada to receive PR. Your friend can send it to India.

Since you will be with your friend, it may cost you less than c$100 per day per adult for food, local transport and other misc. expenses.

The OP said that he is yet to land and is newly married.
A word of caution: If you got married after filing your immigration application and before you actually landed in Canada, you could be in trouble. You should advise the immigration people about the change in your family status if you have not done so already.

Your questions could have easily been answered by your friend and perhaps in a much better manner than any of us who do not know you.
About expenses - it all depends on your own lifestyles and preferences. It could be almost nil (since you are staying with your friend, I am sure he will not ask you to pay for anything like lodging and boarding) to anything (if you want to buy expensive stuff, go siteseeing, watch shows (since you will not be job hunting I presume) etc. etc.
If you want to really get a feel of your could be/would be expenses, you will have to give more details about your own expenses levels in India and your interests when you go for a holiday.
