Dear Friends,
Immigrants, who get visa on point system to enter Canada, have no value for their education and experience in Canada. It has value only for getting points to make 67 or 75.
I don’t under stand that if our education, qualifications and experience are valid at the time of filing application then why not after landing in Canada. Why this is not at the time of filing application. Why it is not said before filing application that you have to get your qualifications accessed after landing Canada. If some one gets his/her qualification accessed in 2-3 years then he is asked for Canadian Experience. How one can have Canadian Experience who has made his landing a few days back?
I think we should raise this issue. None of our politicians / friends, who are here for long, has raised this issue.
Here many of our friends who are Doctors, Engineers, C.A.s, M.B.A.s by profession, are working on Pizza shops, Labour Jobs in factories and feel that “ Kahaan Phas Gaye”.
I feel that out 100 people, 8-10 goes back to their native countries. From 10-15 people get good job after struggling for 3-4 years and rest 60-70, keep on going with the labour jobs as they do not find any good job anywhere. This is what truth about Canada?
Bye.

This I don't think is an accurate assessment.
First of all everyone here knows that it is not easy to get a job right now. Even for local graduates! Also Employers prefer people with experience. Before immigrating if you were to ask a few immigrants in Canada about their experience you would have known that:
1) Its hard for immigrants to get jobs in their professions
2) Their certificates/education is barely recognised.
But this still does not stop people from coming to Canada. Despite these problems Canada has many pluses. Also every Indian immigrant seem to come down to Toronto where jobs are fewer and more difficult to get. Remember you are immigrating to the Country, not to Toronto.
Now look on the counter side.
- Half the Indian degrees are false.
- Many Indians are involved in fraudalent activities. Not paying taxes, hiring illegal immigrants etc. etc. Many working in the states, but showing they are living in Canada (to maintain their residency).
Looking at this I dont blame Employers here to be skeptical about foreign certificates. Also most Employers here can't evaluate foreign certificates, for which the Government has not done enough.
I am the lucky few who got a decent job very quickly, but I think its a lot to do with the attitude we take. One thing I won't deny is that communication skills are very important here and a good command of english is very essential to get a decent job. IF you cant talk well or make an impression in an interview than there is little chance. After all a Canadian doesn't know whether your degree is valuable or not, all he/she is going to go on is how you communicate in your interview.
IMHO Good English/French is a must.

To add further, I am pretty sure, who so ever in India has gained experience by getting the JOB on their OWN (not through any relative, friends, or other means!) then that person will definately find a JOB in his/her own field sooner or later.

I don't agree that the employer be particular abt canadian expreience. I worked in US and there no one asked me if I do have US experience. Instead of being adamant on canadian exp and denying an oppotunity to new immigrant, employer should consider hiring on temp basis and see if they fit into organization or not. If someone is faking the stuff that would be noticed immediately. I know by that employer will not agree with this, but Canada Govt must find alternative to this ever increasing problem, otherwise in the long run , Canada will be looser coz all the good brain people will leave this country out of frustration. I myself had to go through frustration phase even though I worked in US for more than 4 years. They dont recognize my US experience as well. LOL. This makes me laugh. I am not sure if I ever sing "Oh My Canada"....
That I agree to. The Canadian government is not doing enough. Most professionals get frustrated and just go to the USA where international degrees are more recognized.
I think the only way to fix this issue is keep writing to your MPs. I keep hearing the liberal governments promising to fix this problem, but never see anything being done about it.
I myself (though I have a decent job) will find numerous opportunities in the states, but much more difficult here. I guess the main reason is there are many more professional Indians (with Indian degrees) working in the states. Here most of the initial immigrants were refugees and low-class labourers (many farmers), hence Canada is still warming up to the fact that S. Asian immigrants do have lots of intelligent professionals.
