I agree with Cdn-Dude.
In my experience (and i have also travelled to quite a few places across the globe), the travel agent always needs a copy of my visa to be sent to the Airlines before the Airlines releases the ticket.
A more familier experience to CD's was when i arrived in Canada from Chennai. The TA needed a copy of the Visa to be sent to Sri Lankan Airways before Srilankan airways released the ticket.
This is so true if you are travelling from a 3 rd. world contry (Indonesia, India) to a top rated country (UK, USA, Canada,Europe, Saudi, UAE)
For blocking your seats, you donot need a visa.

In India, My Travel agent also asked me to fax the visa to him to show that to airlines. It is a requirement in India, pakistan etc..
But it is not a practice in singapore, western countries etc..

Thanks for the link Trinity.
Just now spoke to my friend in the US, who is going to Canada to marry her g'frnd. He is working in the US and his g'frnd was in the US for 3-4 months in a student visa and could not be able to continue her studies and went to Singapore to her sister's place. My frnd's aunt has been a Canadian citizen since 1980,living in Toronto, sent an invitation to her, to visit Canada by stating as a family frnd. He told me that she has not booked any tickets when she was applying for the TRV in Singapore and she got the TRV. Is that just coz, the invitation letter from a Canadian citizen or coz of the US visa?
The airlines (lufthansa) say sometimes the airfares are not refundable,if i cancel. Does the air-ticket help me in getting the TRV easily ?
Please let me know.
Thanks much in advance.
