looking forward to the rplies of u guys..
thanx.
The fact that you know French and are in France will definitely get you immigration.
MAKE SURE YOU STATE YOUR DESTINATION AS QUEBEC.
Quebec has its own rules for immigrations and they are more lenient especially towards French speaking people and you are in France (they will be drooling).
So I believe getting immigration won't be a problem. Getting a job in Quebec won't be a problem. And then in time you can always move to another state if you feel like.
French speaking ppl get lots of opportunities here. Also since you know both English and French, a lot of government posiitions are open to you too.
I tihnk Jake3D is in montreal and can add to this.

I think the Quebec immigration process is shorter than the rest of Canada. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
Knowing french is definitely a plus. Bonus points for the real French ( from France). I would say do a bit of research about the market in places like Montreal, Quebec City. Also visit http://www.jobboom.com/mod-bin/prod/index.pl?langue=F&SR=QC.
I'll try to dig up some more info for you when I get the chance (i'm in a totally different field from yours...but have a few friend in the aerospace industry here).
And yes...Montreal is a much better place than TO . Let me know if you have anymore questions.

thanx shrek and jake3d for the rply...actually i m quite confused about quebec and canada....if i m not wrong, quebec is a part of canada then why there r different rules for both...and as far as i know, there is a different procedure of filing immigration application for both starting from filling first application form to the end.....so how can i select one out of these two options...and could the choice i make affect my rest of the life in canada..
i m a newbie to this site and found it quite a lot helpful for prospective immigrants like me..i m really thankful to u guys for very seriously maintaining such a website ...today i digged this site and i came to know about real face of canada..
and if there is any mechanical engineer around on this board pls tell me about the job aspects in the field of mechanical engineering in canada...
and how much normally it take to find a job in our field after landing there..
thanx.
Quebec is a part of Canada...however, since Quebecors want to have a say in the type of immigrant who comes here, they have their own immigration system. They prefer immigrants who speak french. Be it from France or former French colonies like Haiti, Algeria, Morrocco etc. This is so that they do not loose their language and culture.
This is the reason most prospective immigrants from the english speaking world do not apply for quebec. This also means lesser people applying and faster processing times...from what I have heard.
Even if you migrate to Quebec you can still apply and work anywhere else once you have landed in Quebec. e.g: I landed in Toronto but took up a job offer in Montreal. I am also free to move to any other province anytime I want to.
I also travel internationally on a Canadian passport. Quebec is a part of Canada. I aim to keep it that way with my vote
Hope this helps.

I personally dont think it will be tough to get a job for you in Quebec (provided you know your stuff and have the experience .. which sounds like you do).
Just go to Quebec and keep saying "Viva la Quebec and via la France" and then say "English is silly" (of course in French) and they will give you a job .. just kidding
But all these depend on luck
