How about arresting all those in German Bakery and its vicinity near the Osho Ashram in Pune.
Also those making out in the Japanese gardens there. Prem's restaurant, parks...

Its a case of sour grapes! All those nincompoops who want Gere arrested wish they were in his place! That's my theory! 
Seriously though, it is not surprising. The reactions are always very strong in India. And most times emotions cloud judgement.
The morcha is out first...what their cause is, they proly discuss on the way...

I agree that we Indians are an emotional bunch and emotions do cloud intellect a lot of times. There is a new sentiment added to the mix - that of new found superficial pride. That too for the wrong reasons, I may add.
I personally thought that Richard Gere was far from sophisticated on stage that day. But to get those sentiments to the level of a morcha - certainly a case of emotions reigning supreme as it is just not worth the effort, time etc.
I agree that its great hearing (read: 'reading') words like nincompoops :-)
