Hi Friends:
I imported my 1998 Honda Accord recently from the US and need to make the appropriate modifications to get my vehicle registered here.
Canadian Tire is asking:
$75 for Safety Check
$35 for Drive Clean
DRL - $126 for labor and $25 for parts
Baby bolt kit - $8
A neighborhood mechanic in North York is asking for $70 labor + $40 parts for the DRL. He also quoted $35 for the Drive Clean and $70 for the Safety Check. It looks like most mechanics are going to charge the same.
I searched CD for relevant information but I could not find any recent posts. Can someone please provide information on a good place to get the modifications done to my car. If the place is near North York (closer to Victoria Park and Finch), that's even better.
Thanks
Best to go with Canadian Tire. I did when I imported my Honda some years back. It is pretty standard work that they do frequently. Only thing you may need to do is get the bolt from Honda dealership. They take care of sending the rest of the documents to RIV.
In North York, the one I know is on Sheppard, close to Leslie. Hope this helps.

Pawan:
I bought my car new in the US and it's in a good working condition. I did not want to sell it and buy another car in Canada. By driving to Canada, I was also able to load my car with a lot of my stuff instead of shipping them. I also saved on airfare for 3 people! Taking all this into consideration, I decided to move my car rather than buy another one.
