Whenever crossing any junctions, look around.

Blind spot check - whenever you change lane, even if you move to a lane which originates from your lane and there is no chance of any vehicle in that lane (bikers!)

Use seat belts. Use warning lights when turning. Observe speed limits strictly.

Crossing railway tracks with no acceleration and no brakes, just gliding and one glance at left and right.

Merge into highway only when safe distance from the car behind. Switch lanes in the same way. Blind spots and rear mirror check a must while switching lanes. Blinkers another must.

Be confident, you have a margin of a lot of small mistakes, but no margin for even one big mistake! Don't be nervous. Cool down and listen to the instructions carefully.

Don't drive as if you are alone on the road. Always expect other vehicles and do the checks even when you know you are alone on the road. You are being checked for following the rules and observing the law.

I don't think many people drive this way everyday. Most of us develop bad habits with time.

Do you believe all people with 10-20 years or more of of driving experience will pass the drivers test on their first go without getting a lesson from a local instructor?

Its about the law and rules of the book. How much you follow these is being checked during the test!

Tiomin,
I Passed.
It was something that i did not expect 99.99 % as i did not prepare well nor was the St. Catherines centre easy. St. Catherines centre is located at a busy down down core with Walmart/No frill/ Cdn . Tire just next to it. Luckily, St. Catherines seems to be a Vehicle town (with hardly any Pedestrians).
The Parallel parking that i did was atleast 30 cms off the curb. The higway entry was from a small street (and not from an exit ramp). Luckily in the QEW , there was just 2 lanes and the examiner told me to " Move to the left lane when safe and return to the current lan, when safe to do so". As there was not much traffice (2:00 pm), I did it though I was going at 90 kms/ hr instead of the 100 permitted.,
I would say that it was God's Grace that enabled me to pass . I thank the CD members who were praying for me and for those who gave tips on hwy. driving.
FYI, I did not even take one class from any instructor for hwy. test. For regular G1 exit, I took 15 classes and that was 3 1/2 years back.
Timon, How did your test go?. Orangge ville has 80 km highway and very less traffic. I hope and wished that you passed.
