1.Thanmathra - Malayalam; Starring Mohan Lal and directed by Blessy.
Simply outstanding movie. Some of my Sardar friends watched it with subtitles and cried after the movie.
Mohan Lal simply outstanding as an Alzhemiers patient. This movie reiterates the value of family/relationship and priorities for middle class Desis. Many of us still wandering from location to location and from job to job without prioritizing what is that we want in our life and what is that we are trying to achieve in a short span of life ?.
I CAN GAURANTEE YOU THAT THIS MOVIE WILL LEAVE YOU WITH TEARS AND WILL LEAVE DEPRESSED FOR A FEW HOURS ATLEAST AFTER YOU WATCH THIS MOVIE. But it will give you a fresh direction in life.
This is the same movie which is in controversy/court for the best actor as the Hindi movie mafia wanted to give it to Amitabh for Black while the jury wanted to give it to Mohanlal for his outstanding performance.
I hope Rajnikanth does not make another Chandramukhi out of this movie.
2.Chennai 600028 - Tamil; All newcomers and produced by SPB.
All new faces and based on Gully Cricket. Some of the cricket sequences are more thrilling than the just finished world cup. It is a good movie for a start and will take us back to our childhood for those who have gully cricket and bet matches minus the Liqour.
The final scene where the school kids thrash the college guys on the cricket field is really good.

Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....
"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"
Thanks for the post S
