FAIR OR UNFAIR ...BY ANY MEANS EMPLOYER CAN GET RID OF YOU IF HE DOEN'T WANT YOU ANYMORE ..
HE CAN MAKE LIFE SO MISERABLE ON JOB THAT YOU WILL BE WILLING TO QUIT YOURSELF VOLUNTARILY ...THATS MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE ..

...what annoys me? Suraj posted this ad and yes it seemed urgent and he was asked to provide more details about his dismissal which he didn't; people speculated and he posted back saying oh thank you! It'd help everyone to understand the situation better since the idea of the forum is to generate a wealth of knowledge for people who may find themselves in any of the many situations discussed here.
I think all responses to the post were valid given the lack of information and alas, we again can just speculate what happened ! ! !
No information is so much better than incomplete information !

Aashu,
Simple Human chemistry - if a person in a authority position does not like an employee - whether their personality, habits, lack of professionalism etc, they cannot fire the employee for those reasons. This may however lead to sabatoging (not always though..im generalizing here). They may be passed over for promotions etc. Their work environment may be miserable and they may quit their job to avoid the environment.
Of course then this is a toxic work environment...a whole other issue..
As they dont want to be sued, companies will ensure they have a solid reason for terminating someone's employment. They too are aware that you can go to Employment Standards, Human Rights, Union etc.
I also suspect no one is just 'let go' without a reason or warnings or some indication that this was going ot happen. Did the employee have behaviors (such as coming in late, being absent a lot etc)? Was their friction? Was it a toxic work environment??
So your thought that someone can be fired for the color of their eyes is both yes AND no. Legal recourses are available for those who feel unjustly fired, and I hope they have documented dates and actions of what has happened. Those who have suddenly been let go and know deep down inside that the relationship between them was not working out - may need to get some vocational counselling to sort it out.
If an employer does not like you - you need to ask yourself why? They interviewed you - more often thennot - so they hired you because they felt you were fit for the job. If you are let go - what happened? THIS needs to be analysed. IF the Employer is just a jerk. or really doesnt like your physical characteristics...still he/she should have the professionalism to overlook those things as you are there to do a JOB.
Fit is really important ina work place.
