Hi Everyone

I have been reading the Charcha forum for a really long time, and now its time for us to be moving to Vancouver in the month of July'07.we will be travelling form DUBAI.

I would like to get a few clarifications if anyone would please clarify:-

1) Do Electronics like -Microwave,DVD Players bought here in Dubai work there? or do we have to get a gadget to change the voltage?
2)Can anyone sugest a good reasonable/ heap Accomodation for a few weeks till we find a permanent one?
3) Do we need to have a job before we can rent out an apt? (Do Landlords ask for our employement or are they uptight if we are new immigrants?)
4) Do Landlords most of the time ask for refernces? if so can anyone one of the CD help us with that?

Hey guys I know iam asking a lot of questions but we are a couple travelling with our 3 year old son so area little apprehensive

Thanks for your time and effort to clarify my doubts

Regards

1. You need to change to 110V.
2. What is reasonable for you? If you are looking for hotel/motel, there are many. If you are looking for some kind of guesthouse, I can try to find a one for you. Please mail me through this website, if you need info about guesthouse, I will try to find & reply to you.
3. Typically, No.
4. Typically, Yes. If you are looking for apartment, they will ask for references and will check also. (But it will not be difficult to get apt) If you are looking for basement, most of the time no.

Thank you for your Reply ASH20 reasonable for us is somewhere around $60-$ 85 with private bathroom and preferably a kitchen facility .

Also you have mentioned that we need to give references for apartments well in that case do Landlords accept refernce from out of province? For Eg we know someone in Toronto and someone else in Ottawa? Do you think they would accept like that?

I think you can get some hotel/model in this range. Try to search on the net and I will also try to find something for you.

Yes, they do accept references from out of province. You should not worry about it at this point, as it will not be an issue. These are secondary issues and if you face any problem, please feel free to contact me.
