CBC is trying an experimental show - it is on 5th June

Ontario Today, is a province-wide news and current affairs program on CBC Radio One.

It goes to air from noon until two (EST).

This will be a one hour phone-in program about immigration.


First, a chat with the host, Rita Celli, for a few minutes, about the magazine, and some of the most common things that new arrivals to Canada want or need to know.


Then they would open the phone lines.


The first episode will be live tomorrow at noon.

What are the challenges in making a new home in Canada ?

What are some of the most common problems new arrivals run into, in Canada ?

- employment related, housing related
- cultural differences - e.g. eye contact, being too forceful or not forceful enough during job interviews, etc.
- loneliness ? language barriers ?

In your opinion, how good is Canada in terms of offering help - are there plenty of agencies for support , is there enough help in settling new immigrants ?
