There is a special SciTech program at Tomken public school in mississauga. This is the only program for grade 6-8 in peel board. Anyone has idea about how good this program is? what are special benifits of this program?

My response will be controversial response.

I'm giving my response based on practical EXPERIENCE with my kids and also it is reality based response - suggestion.

After the kid does this program it needs to go Port Credit School for Scitech program.

The universities do NOT give a damn about these courses BUT they are concerned about the MARKS only.

If you see the Tomken program you'll find some middle aged teacher who will teach some of these courses also teaches gym and also crafts.

None of the PEEL region teachers know anything about SCITECH.

The only guy who knows something about some of these stuff in Port Credit is a Desi from Mumbai.

I know students who went through this course are cursing and want to go to a regular school but they find that they are stuck as other home schools are full.

It is just like the CBSE versus State board in India. The only advantage in CBSE is that the curriculum will always be better than the state board.

But in these Scitech the level of program is substandard.


Do not waste your time on all these gimmicks and put your kid through a good school and focus on Mathematics and Science if they need to go to Waterloo or McMaster for real Technology program.

I can guarantee one thing that if your kid goes through school here and some how manages to reach Waterloo's computer science program a Desi Kid who has recently migrated from India or Gulf will BEAT the S#!T of your kid and at 50% drop out rates in the first year of university your kid will be back home knocking on your door.

Donot listen to bullshit, if your kid is selected it means he is good and wil study with bright students. No one looks at marks in job interviews in US / Canada, its all based on what you know and what you bring to the table.

Congratulations to all parents whose kids make it to IBT .... Univeristy and college are few years away so don't worry now.

And all know where students studied or born in India stand, they are not leaders but good workers.
