I'm here to tell you about reality and fantasy. Reality is not all foods are created equal, in fact, a lot of them are junk. The fantasy is, if you think by eating a lot of junk foods you're going to remain healthy, you're mistaken.

That's why I've created the top 10 list of worst junk foods people commonly eat.

10. Fruit drinks.
Not to be confused with fruit juices, fruit drinks are 10 per cent or less real fruit sugar. They're loaded with artificial colouring and sucrose. Definitely teeth rotters.

9. White bread.
Yes, this is a junk food. Everytime you're looking at a slice of white bread you are seeing a slice of sugar -- it acts in the body the same way.

8. Doughnut.
It's white bread dipped and deep-fried and sugar. What can be worse? No wonder there's a big hole in the middle, it's a nutritional zero.

7. Decaffeinated coffee.
An excellent way to remove the caffeine and add chemical solvent residue right into your favourite beverage.

6. Pop.
Let's see now, how do you spell increased bone breakage? P-O-P.

5. Diet pop.
You get all the dandy benefits of pop, plus artificial sweetener, which has been shown in studies to actually increase your sugar cravings and alter your brain chemistry.

4. Sugary breakfast cereals.
Now here's a guarantee: If you want to start your day in a low lifeforce mode, then this is the junk breakfast for you.

3. Deep-dish pizza.
This is an excellent way to stack, jack and pack your G.I. tract with one big dollop of sodium, dough and fat -- an overnight weight-gain wonder.

2. Ice cream.
Here's a beauty, high in sugar and high in fat, for another whack attack on your pancreas and your arteries.

And the number one worst junk food hands down is...

1. French fries and potato chips.
Here's why: Yes, it's unparalleled sodium-loading enzyme-dead food. But new information now shows that it's high in acrylimide, a known cancer-causing agent. In fact, the amount of acyrlimide in a serving of fast-food French fries is 300 times above the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's limit set for one glass of water.

Now, every behaviour carries with it it's own consequences. It's no different with nutrition. Reality or fantasy, take your pick. Choose wisely.

u seem to have forgotten cakes and cookies,

i believe watever u eat...as long as its in moderation its fine. anything ..even if its good for u,if exceeded beyond its limit ,will affect u and not necessarily in a good way.

another thing i find since i moved here ,the tv carries soo many advertisments pertaining to fast foods...the newest pizza, burgers restaurants and even instant food etc, they shud be limited...as its only after seeing a new pizzahut add do i get a strong craving for pizza. now i have started changing channels wen ever any food ad comes on.

I'm here to tell you about reality and fantasy. Reality is not all foods are created equal, in fact, a lot of them are junk. The fantasy is, if you think by eating a lot of junk foods you're going to remain healthy, you're mistaken.

That's great but let's see what alternatives there are to these top ten junk foods.

That's why I've created the top 10 list of worst junk foods people commonly eat.

And I have created a list of alternatives you can eat instead.

10. Fruit drinks.
Not to be confused with fruit juices, fruit drinks are 10 per cent or less real fruit sugar. They're loaded with artificial colouring and sucrose. Definitely teeth rotters.

Alternative - Try making your own homeade fruit drinks - if you are interested I can suggest a few recipes...even grocery stores carry these now in some really yummy flavours. They might be a little on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for. How about V8? It's loaded with 8 different veges - that can't be bad and yoghurt drinks are another healthier alternative - again, anyone interested, I have recipes.

9. White bread.
Yes, this is a junk food. Everytime you're looking at a slice of white bread you are seeing a slice of sugar -- it acts in the body the same way.

Alternative - Personally, I have tried the low carb diet and it works...I substituted my white bread with the low carb bread you can get at Costco or Sam's Club, or if you can't get over the fact that the low carb bread tastes a little like cardboard, you can always opt for the "brown breads' with whole grains - anything with whole grains are great.

8. Doughnut.
It's white bread dipped and deep-fried and sugar. What can be worse? No wonder there's a big hole in the middle, it's a nutritional zero.

Alternative - When you get a craving for something sweet, better to have one of those nutrition bars, or better still, have some fruit. That's all I have I'm afraid for this one as personally, I can't get over how delicious those Krispy Cremes are!!! Anyone have any better suggestions...I'm listening!

7. Decaffeinated coffee.
An excellent way to remove the caffeine and add chemical solvent residue right into your favourite beverage.

Alternative - As a coffee drinker myself, I have never tried decaf, so can't comment on that. I did however used to have about 3-4 cups of coffee a day and I used to get so wound up it was affecting my behaviour in a negative way...so I am now down to 1 cup a day and I drink tea too , which has a host of beneficial antioxidants. I would also recommend green tea - the health benefits of this tea are numerous. There are also a wide variety of other flavoured teas out there so go nuts!

6. Pop.
Let's see now, how do you spell increased bone breakage? P-O-P.

Alternative - drink diet pop.

5. Diet pop.
You get all the dandy benefits of pop, plus artificial sweetener, which has been shown in studies to actually increase your sugar cravings and alter your brain chemistry.

Alternative - Ooops. Actually, see my first alternative suggestions for drinks.

4. Sugary breakfast cereals.
Now here's a guarantee: If you want to start your day in a low lifeforce mode, then this is the junk breakfast for you.

Alternative - I recently heard that eating cereal in morning can help you lose weight - that's not what happened to me. Ditch the cereal and go for a low fat yoghurt with fruit slices, or a sprinkle of muesli instead, or try with nuts (almonds are great - just a handful mind) Or if you need your bread - don't forget the whole grain stuff or the low carb one. If you are like me and need something hot in your belly for these cold morning, try some porridge, don't add the sugar, instead add a dollop of low fat strawberry jam.

3. Deep-dish pizza.
This is an excellent way to stack, jack and pack your G.I. tract with one big dollop of sodium, dough and fat -- an overnight weight-gain wonder.

Alternative - MMmmm pizza....Ahem, ok so we all love pizza. I agree with Mishej India, everything in moderation. You can't expect to go through life and never eat a slice of pizza again, so when you get the craving, opt for a thin crust and don't you dare add that extra topping of cheese!

2. Ice cream.
Here's a beauty, high in sugar and high in fat, for another whack attack on your pancreas and your arteries.

Alternative - Anyone ever heard of frozen yoghurt? It tastes the same as ice cream - without the cream!

Alternative - If you must have fries, have them baked in the oven. Or try something different if you get that craving for starchy foods - have a baked potatoe, yummy!

Now, every behaviour carries with it it's own consequences. It's no different with nutrition. Reality or fantasy, take your pick. Choose wisely.

Hope that helps someone out there who, like me, is on that eternal quest for a slimmer body!

I got into big trouble after choosing Aishwrya Rai avatar on this board. I changed my avatar now. Some folks on this board thought it was my real life photo.
