Hi All,

I have been reading all possible information about getting visitor visa for parents. I still have a few questions

1. My husband and I have recently come to Canada ( in dec last year). He has a full time job from jan and I had a temporary job which just ended. I worked for a total of 5 months. He has just worked for a total of 5 months like me. We will be able to send our pay stubs and bank statement, but will that financial info be sufficient from our end? I mean it is not some major money or savings..after all, we have just started out.

2. We learnt a couple months back that we were going to have a baby and wanted to first have my parents over and then later after my parents leave, have his parents over to hep us out with the baby. In the invitation letter, can I mention that I'd like to have them over to help us out with our baby or just send a general invitation letter?

3. My parents and inlaws, from their end, will also show some bank balance, but my question is how much funds should be sufficient.

4. If for any case they get rejected, how soon can they apply again?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks
June

One of my friends mother-in-law was denied visa when she mentioned the same reason for her travel. They said one can hire a baby-sitter to help around.
Ask your mum/MIL to tell that as my daughter is there so i want to go there ....and visit some picinic spots and enjoy...and return back to india..sure...the visa consultates will issue visa.

I believe it is more to do with the Western Society and general psycology. Consider this:
a) There are plenty of single parents living here, who also deliver/bring up kids.
b) Most companies provide maternity leave for normal delivery and more for C-Section. After that they expect the mother to come back to work.
c) There is hardly few in-laws or even mothers stay with the mother during or after delivery.

So, the attitude would be why is it a big deal for you folks from India.
So, that's why if you say 'site seeing' it is safe, besides everything is decided based on how much money you can spend to get the 'economy going'. If you are a tourist, obviously you will spend a lot!

So, bottom line, giving the reason that 'expecting baby or help after delivery' does not bring sympathy. Other than this I don't see any other reason.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
I personally know a couple that gave their reason for bringing their parents over was because they were expecting their baby.

Initially their Visa got rejected because they hadn't shown enough funds in Canada but then they called up their MP and got the visit Visa approved exculsively because of the reason that she was expecting her first child and did not have any relatives around to care for her. The Canadian government is indeed quite compassionate about cases this.

Also bringing parents over for the baby's birth is not just for the help it also has to do with wanthing them to be there to share the beautiful event. The government expecting just the husband and wife to get thru bringing up a baby on their own espeically in the first few months is quite naive.

The one thing that I have learned about the Candaian systen its to be truthful about the situation - people and generally considerate and understanding .

Best of luck on ur applicaton. I sure it will work out.

June,
This is a follow up on the post that u had send earlier regarding documents to apply for ur parents visitor visa .
I am expecting a well and I had put this as the main reason when I send them their invitation letter.
Regarding funds my parents showed about 10 lakhs in India and their house as immovable property. Our travel agent infact said that showing immovable property wasn't compulsory but it always helps the case. My parents didn''t want to take a risk so included that as well in their documentation.
In total the whole process was over in three weeks in which they got their passports back with the relevant Visas.
I hope this helps and best of luck on ur application

Hi Deeps,

I just got to know that my parents got their visa. I didnt mention the reason as pregnancy though. But what I am surprised that their Vida is valid onli till Feb 2008. Does this mean that they gave to leave before that or that have time until Feb to enter Canada??? Any idea??

I suppose ur parents got their visa too..

It means they have to enter Canada by Feb 2008.
It seems to be a standard 6 month valid visa.

The 6 months is from the date of entry into Canada. The visa expiry in February corresponds to the time within which they have to make an entry into canada.
