I don't think it's all whinning without any basis.
Both our test and one-day record in recent times is poor.
Esp. against teams like Australia, New Zealand, etc.
I wouldn't care about the one-off loss to Bangladesh in the World Cup if we were doing better in general.
We'll have to wait and see how the England and the Australia series go.

Pratick ... the irony in this is that we removed a winning captian .... the next tour was to Pakistan .... he was included in the team .... we lost the series ... he played in the first match ... did not get a chance to play as Sehwag and Dravid played the whole time....was dropped for the second test & then in the third test he made 34 / 37 ..... then he was dropped from the Indian team ..... reason Greg Chappel and maybe even an insecure Dravid .... or maybe anti Dalmiya camp..... but whatever it was we lost a good captain
Ganguly looks aggressive when everything is going for him. If Team is losing or on a brink of (yet another) defeat – he is worried & out of ideas (as if he had at first place). You’ll hear names in presentation after defeat. I never heard him saying “I played bad today” or “I am responsible for the defeat”. Azhar had very simple explanation to every defeat – “We didn’t bat well, we didn’t bowl well and we didn’t field well”. Dravid came strong after World Cup saying as a Captain “I take full responsibility”. You wouldn’t have heard this from highly successful Ganguly. Most of the matches that Ganguly won were some brilliant performances by individual. Captain had no say or control during that phase. Rather team has snatched defeat from jaws of victory under him.
Ganguly hardly managed to defend low scoring games. That’s where the captaincy comes in. He hardly ever looked beyond Kumble & Bhajji. He had Murli Kartik – but could not use him.
It’s not much of a deal when Team comprising Tendulkar, Dravid, Sehwag, Ganguly, Dhoni, Yuvraj, Kumble, Zaheer, Harbhajan, Pathan ... … … is winning. They all are highly talented cricketers but it’s a problem when it does not happen consistently. Rather failure is more consistent.

Mumbai Maazi Ladki ...
Murali Kartik was another joker ....... he was supposed to be this wonderfull spinner .... he played 30 matches & got 27 wickets ..... come on after playing 30 matches is that what you expect as someone who is going to be your hope for future .......imagine agarkar got 50 wickets in 25 matches & you think him as an "also ran bowler"...... forget about comparing him to Kumble or bhajji

Thats what !!! ... Ganguly could not use him. He was either underbowled or defensive.
You seem to have good memory ... Remember Australia playing in Mumbai 04-05. Dravid was captain and he got 7 Wickets.
Murli was another filler type of bowler.
Sunil Joshi was probably only slightly better than him - his batting skills were better than Murli though
We've had many of these filler players over the years - Atul Wassan was another (if you even recall the name).
Our selectors have the habit of going with mediocre players, whose abilities and skills are limited but predictable, rather than taking risks with youngsters.
We've never had a good strategy for training and grooming promising youngsters, such as teams like Australia and South Africa have.
Most of our wins come from stellar individual performances and players - earlier it used to be Kapil Dev; these days it's from Sachin or Kumble.
We rarely see teamwork wins.
