I don't really know the reason behind this thread. If you want to talk about problems, talk about Canadian problems. All those "so called" Indian problems do exist right here in Canada too. We have Corrupt politicians, we have pollution and crimes…… you can be shot dead while watching TV in your living room. One girl is kidnapped and for three month s police is still waiting for some “Leading Tips” because this country has most incompetent (and corrupt too) police. You will find them on all major routes with laser gun to catch you for traffic violation but you won’t find them in high crime area..... let me cut short here because this list can be very long.
We know by discussing all these things we are not going anywhere, so let us discuss some healthy issue to help our community here and everywhere.
Thanks and regards.

Hey,
Its 'General Chat'. Its all good! People should be encouraged to post their thoughts. It is an online forum after all. We discuss a lot of things including activism, politics etc. It makes all of us think. Thinking is healthy for our community. If you have anything to say on the topic..do so.
Please do not get overzealous in imposing your definitions of what should and should not be here, or what is 'helpful' to the community. We will loose a lot of people that way.
p.s: you are not really comparing a rare kidnapping and burglaries with the killing of 700 people are you?

If it is for me, I am not imposing my definitions on anyone, just try to bring out the truth. Kidnapping are no more rare in Canada. and when we compare any number, I think we also compare the ratio of population of India and Canada to get per capita kidnappings or crimes.
But I unknowingly hurt someone's feeling I do apologize for that. I just wanted to compare facts between both countries.
Thanks and regards.

one thing i like about us is that we are so concerned about the other persons 'feelings' . It amazes me to see such disclaimers often on this forum. Just want to assure you biomed that I am not that sensitive. When I write something on a public forum I fully expect it to be debated and rightly so. Being an artist who has to defend his work, posted across multiple online forums, and to be able to accept criticism has prepared me for that fact.
Having a large population can be one of the causes for the number of crimes and a lot of other maladies. A cause, however, is not an excuse and should not be treated as one. What most people are trying to point out that the social awareness among the common man is much higher in countries like Canada compared to India. If its a matter of awareness i.e. education(well rounded...not just books), then logically Indians are not doomed to accept the problems as their fate. Awareness can pull us out of the many of the problems that make us a 3rd world nation. Along with economic development it will make India a true first world nation.

Hi
The reason why I posted this news in this board here is not that it does not happen anywhere, things much worse than that can happen anywhere and I don't think Canada or any country can be an exception.
My question is what happens after that? . In this case as a high profile person, the family I am sure will get justice but then there are hundreds of unspoken souls ( I am sure newspaper will refuse to cover them !!). Having lived in Mumbai I personally know of many cases. If you meet with an accident and if you are semi dead nobody will come to assist you, not that they don't want to but simply because the red tape won't let you go home peacefully after the good deed.
Wheather it is UP, Bihar, Bombay or any other place , life of an average Indian is hard in most of the aspects.that's why I guess we are trying to escape (migrate) to other country and therefore the choice for an average Indian I guess is not that which country is better? or rather which country is less worse.
Thanks Jake for your message. Well I fully agreed with Val's commrnt : "I guess we are trying to escape (migrate) to other country and therefore the choice for an average Indian I guess is not that which country is better? or rather which country is less worse. "
Thanks and regards.

Problems are everywhere in the world.
In canada also, we have problems.
We just want to share the things and find out some consensus to solve them
