Well said ~ most of the times new technology is a hype but then the idea is that computer technology is changing at a fast pace and will be outdated some day - hence buy the latest or as suggested by you semi latest .

They say gaming and other video intensive apps need more performance.

Thanks Alex but the refurbished Dell computers are older processors as compared to the one here which is a good model at a good price .

Manufacturer would be one year from HP.

Extd. warranty..nah, bad idea. If has problems work you will know in the first three months or its good to go till you run it to the ground.

BTW also look at ebay USA. A guy I know got a HP AMD Turon 3.2, 2 gig RAM 160 HDD, 17" display (wide angle) for $735 with a HP 4000 series printer. he had problem with the sound, HP prompty sorted it out. I think Toshiba is great too. So is DELL, so ASUS.

Interesting info...
Did he have it shipped to Canada or to a U.S. address? Won't shipping to Canada incur customs duties?

Here in Canada. Many people buy laptops in US. It is just an hrs ride from here. As far as I know there is no customs on laptops otherwise there will chaos, massive problem in airports, trains and other transit places. I do it all the time. No border guard has ever asked me where that laptop was purchased.
Having said, that you want to ask ebay.

If you're looking for powerful (GPU) laptops you may want to consider ASUS - if you're ok with Windows, that is. Built more for the gaming crowd, but great hardware specs.

An iffy q3 2008? Too late.

Thanks for the ASUS tip.

Very surprised Fujitsu laptop and LG brand not talked about.

Fujitsu - Only brand I know made in Japan ( overall ***** start rating) Little bit more on price but good throughput.

LG - Great Quality chipset
