Kudu's South Indians !!
http://www.thestar.com/News/article/228243

The above article from the Star explains how a 15 year old boy performed a C- Section operation under the guidance of his doctor parents. The boy's parents wanted him to be in the Guiness Book of records as the yongest boy to perform c-section.
Goes on to show that Indians (and i am guessing that this boy is a Tamilian based on his name) are the best in Medicine and IT (far ahead of even Canadians) when compared to the rest of the world.
Makes me and Sankaracharya very glad !

Sidenote : The boy and his parents face criminal charges for this feat is another story.

"Not son, I performed surgery, claims doc"

The logic of this Doctor was that if other parents claimed that their child could drive a car at the age of 5 or climb a mountain or be a spelling bee or create a world record at a young age, why his son should not do something which he has learnt since he was a small child.

Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....

"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"

Some logic ....... Surgery is not then same as driving a car or climbing a mountain ...... anyone of us can learn to drive in a weeks time ..... to perform surgery you have to study and the take proper examination so that your capabilities can be checked .... then only you are allowed to perform the surgery ....... he was playing with someone's life .... it would be a criminal offence and his parents can be charged , in case the lady who had the surgery should report ...... in any case IMA can take action .... but then in India who bothers .... it will die a natural death in a few days .....

If you ever need surgery, you will have no problems getting operated on by this boy, right?? ;)

It is a matter of pride for you, after all:p

Nothing personal, but I am shocked to see Tamilkuravan write something like this........ National pride, regionalism apart, does it make sense to have a sense of pride at something like this?

I am sure TK wouldn't say this if his next of kin was under the knife held by the 15 year old, and something went wrong (not that I wish that).

I am personally ashamed because this is just not the right thing to do.

Let's not make it a matter of pride. This is what is wrong about attitudes in India. You can be just 15, perform surgery just because you want to and get away with it. Now the joke is on the doctor because he said the regional medical council was making it an issue because it was "jealous of his son's success."

I wish he was here and have his son try something like that (I bet he wouldn't). He could have his license taken away and spend at least 10 years in the slammer.

So much for Dr. Murugesan and his great admirers!

I'm glad the doctors being taken to task. Imagine if he decided to give his pet monkey a world record certification next.

I'm also glad the doctor and wife are not brain surgeons or bomb/mine defusion experts.
