Right, that'll fix all problems. We stop calling ourselves Canadian desis. In the meantime, let's continue to live in this country, use its resources but also rubbish it at every opportunity possible. And oh yeah! Let's salute the flag of our neighboring country and lament not having the opportunity to be there. NOW THAT will help define us with a lot more clarity, right??

Here's to another "Look look, I read a lot of newspapers and websites!!! Look at my knowledge of current affairs! I google all the time!! Let me throw in some fancy quotes and news links... c'mon...acknowledge me, ACKNOWLEDGE ME!!" post. :D

True. Well said. Some people always try to get attention of others by trying to brag about their knowledge, current affairs by Google'ing...lol..

Freedom of expression doesn't mean to give a step brotherly treatment to the country that is providing you three times' meal, a place to live happily, in a healthy environment.

There are some people who wave the flag of neighboring country, criticize Canada in each possible way, and whatever you mentioned 'BlueLobster'.

But for me, once I stepped in to Canada, I have become a part of it.

Anyway, each has their own perception of Canada - as a country.

Canada is not giving you three meals a day .... it's giving you an environment where you can earn your three meals a day ...... but then that does not take your right to criticize ..... look at Michael Moore .... he has made a living out of criticizing America ...... even waved Canadian flag to show that our health system is better then theirs .....

BL, what is the difference between an immigrant criticizing the system and a well bred caucasian ....

There's a difference between criticizing aspects of a country you don't agree with (with the hope and intention of making a positive impact) AND saying "I hate this country. Everything about it sucks. I can't wait till I get a chance to immigrate to another country and out of this hellhole"

Not sure how you brought MM into this equation...what's this about caucasians and immigrants? You show me a black, brown, white, pink, blue Canadian/immigrant/Cimmigrant whatever who hates this country with a passion, can't stop raving about the states and considers it his/her misfortune that he/she is here and I will feel the same exact way about that person i.e. "Get the hell out of here!!"

MM on the other hand does not feel that way about his country. He sees a lot of good and wants to fix the bad (at least in his eyes). Don't forget the part however that he's a filmmaker. Living here, we all know his love for Canadian healthcare is a bit misplaced. (Greenspan would call it "irrational exhuberance";). But I digress.
