Greetings,
We are planning to move to Canada in March 2004.
We are also expecting a baby later this year.
My questions are what kind of health care will we receive in Canada during the first 3 months.
We obviously won't have provincial health coverage for 3 months.
Does private insurance cover pre-existing conditions like pregnancy?
What about after the first 3 months?
Will provincial health care cover all expenses after that, including the doctor's/midwife's fees, hospital time, any medications, etc.
What are likely out-of-pocket expenses?
Thanks for any help.
After 3 months of your stay all these things are covered under OHIP, you won't have to pay anything. For first 3 months I heard Blue Cross is a good insurance company. Foloowing is the website, just contact them and ask what type of insurance you can get.

Thanks and regards.

If you get permanent job in Canada, most of the employers give health care benefits (drugs and prescriptions, vision, dental, physiotherapy, massage etc) from date of joining them. However upto three months you wil lnot be entitled to get reimbursement of doctor fees if you are not employed. Employer provides benefits for whole family.
With some employers, you get reimbursement of expenses after three months of probation but since your date of joining them.
Thanks biomed and Sanjiv for replying to my query.
Is there anyone in the group who has gone thru my kind of situation ? And how is health care in Ontario from a new immigrant point of view ?
Thanks,
Hello Manchali
