I signed up for Airtel as BSNL has a waiting time of 20-30 days for boradband connection. Airtel has some ridiculous requirements reg rental agreements. They need a Rs. 20 stamp paper whereas BSNL will accept Rs. 2 stamp paper. Airtel folks never told me that there was no phone books (directory) for residential and business. They gave a toll free no. to call for directory assistance. Guess what? They give tel no for only Airtel landline subscribers. Same with BSNL.
That means though there are no. of players, when it comes to phone book, only BSNL has it. To get that u have to be a BSNL customer. Since I am an Airtel customer, I cant get the phone book for res. and bus. from BSNL. There is no such thing called one phone book for Bangalore for res. and bus. landlines.
Airtel boradband is fast. 2 gbps (that's what I am told for my connection). May be I will get a landline from BSNL and use Airtel only for intl calls.
Now I need to find out if I can atleast get a yellow pages.

How can you expect BSNL to supply the telephone number of its rival company's subscribers?
