thx for the update. i guess Canadian citizens r in HIGH demand with the H1B crunch.... i know Desi Canadian Citizen friends with NO IT experience jumping on this bandwagon.... I think the pay is way better then what they get paid here. Typical starting salaries r around 60k USD which is not bad......

I am a Canadian Citizen with academic background in Computer Engineering, from India. I moved in here when the market wasnt very promising and so, didn't really end up working in IT. However now, I am looking to get into the industry and was thinking of taking up AIM-CC on their free "training and placement" courses.
Hopefully my canadian citizenship will help make up for my lack of work exp.
I understand there is a good demand for .Net. Anyone have any other suggestions on what would be a good course to take up?
I spoke with a couple of 'training and placement' agencies from U.S, yesterday, and one of them suggested SAP HR and other suggested BizTalk Server something.... and were claiming to pay $65K (USD)/Year. I couldnt really tell if they were a scam or genuine.
Also, I am surprised there isnt one consolidated source online, offering info and reviews on these "training and placement" agencies, considering the number of them who advertise on sulekha.com.
P.S: I would like thank all those who contributed to this thread. Its been very helpful.
Cheers
I here tht SAP, Oracle APPS and .NET r hot in the US market. If I were to get training and placement, I wud go for SAP or Oracle APPS... You are better off in a long run and most of the companies using SAP and APPS wud b big size companies.....
