Hi CDs
I have a specific question. Want to take some inputs from learned professionals before shelling out real money for getting my qualifications assessed.
I hold B.Com (full time 2nd division from Delhi University) and Associate Membership of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India.
Could anyone comment on the likely qualification assessment result in terms of seeking exemptions in CGA course? They normally take 5 weeks to decide on credits and charge $ 150.
I reside in Vancouver. I possess experience in Finance, Collection and Legal from India and am presently employed in Marketing. Have two choices - either to take up some qualification in Finance and Accounts (or Law) or switch over to Marketing and start from scratch.
Would it make sense to take up a year long course from any community college like (Vancouver Career College or Langara or CDI etc) in Accounting and Payroll and take up an entry level job in Finance / Accounts and carry on with CGA?
Suggestions and remarks are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I came to Canada in 1999 holding the same degree in B.Com (H) and started CGA in 2001 I got 2 years of exemption. I started from 3rd level of CGA. But with time as your degree gets older you credits become less and less.
In my personal experience Accounting and Finance field is the best in todays market. (Maybe because I feel comfortable with it) demand never gone down. for short term a small course from any college would get you a job of $14-18 per hr. But for long term I would say CGA is worth doing.
Thanks Mr. Singla for your encouraging words.
Would appreciate views from other members as well...
