I have a friend who sent a email to Toyota and Toyota Canda replied by saying they will NOT honour warranty of cars bought from US. This was about 2 months back Unfortunately i dont have the emails to show as proof.

If you got the email then thats it. Go ahead and get that van, i am sure you will have a lot of fun with it

I sent a email to Toyota Canda about this as i am alos potentially looking to buy a car in 6-8 months time.
Meanwhile here is a link from Toyota Canda which indicates it will honour Toyota US warranty

I doubt its for new cars....as somebody said earlier, if u buy used car from states, yes, warranty is valid...

Even if the warranty is valid, u'll need to find a dealer who will honor that warranty, as they really have no incentive to do that...

hi guys,
seems a lot of you have been importing cars from USA>.

would any of you be so kind, and describe what is the procedure of importing cars here. I did go to RIV website.. but it would definetly help if someone would give their first hand experiences.

some of the specific things I would like to know is,
1) would we have to pay the 14% tax once we enter canada
2) what is the paper work we need to do at the border.
3) would it help, if some relative bought the vehicle in USA and then transfered the vehicle to our name as a gift.

Would greatly appreciate the answers.
Thanking in advance.

I think it makes much more sense to import when you're buying a luxury goodies.

Not just luxury goodies.

Importing even a regular Toyota minivan yields about 10K of savings PLUS the fact that the van is way better equipped than are those sold in Canada.
