Hi Group
I was just wondering if any of the investment gurus on this forum would be kind enough to give a 1-2 hour lesson on options trading in one of our houses. I am very interested in doing options but I only have book knowledge. It owuld be great to hear the pros & cons from someone who has the market experience.
Cheers

Thanks ftfl. I will take a look at the links. I actuallt went to finance.yahoo.com and tried to find all the options out there on google. but the search function does not allow me to search by the underlying. I am not sure how to go abt finding all the options on a specific stock.
Cheers

Here rsk12,
Try and understand this free software and see if it works for you. Read through the whole site and in there you will find most of the Exchanges listed and see if you can generate any of the Options Chains of the stocks that you know on these exchanges or the markets, currently or from way back.

This will give you an idea as to what an exchange is, and how they came about. Just an academmic topic.

Here are whole list of Stock Exchanges that we have heard about but did not know where they were and what they did. Try and find out more about each one of them and what they do in their country. Take your own sweet time and get a handle on these.

Fundamentals on options from the wikipedia with highlights.

This website is from the Forbes people. They are good too. They will have the terms that WE use in CANADA and the NORTH AMERICA. Do not follow the usages from other countries. There is a whole lot of difference in their usage.

Originally there was Philadelphia Options exchange and they fell back but are still in the Options Trade.
Then came CBOE, in chicago. It is currently one of the big ones and are still expanding like crazy. They are some times in loggerheads with CME, another one of the Futures Exchanges, here in the North America.
Here in Canada we have Montreal Stock Exchange for our Futures and Options. So be guided by these three.
There is a little bit of information on the options chain in investopedia. Hope it helps you get started.
Have you gone through a few of the archived seminars in my previous links? If so, you will be in a better position to go on with these current links of today.
Hope this gets you up a notch higher.
Good Luck.
Freddie.

PKS
This is to inform you and the board that I have no personal interest in OIC, the Option Investment Council or the "OPTIONETICS" group and I inform to this board as and when I come to know of a seminar being held. I do get a personal invitation from them. Some times I fail to inform you because I am out of town or completely forget about it.
I will report to you about the current events as and when I attend them and if I find them useful. If you are one of them that is interested in such an event, you please note and attend, if it is to your liking. The choice is yours. No one forces you to attend anything. I will surely inform you all, after their departure tomorrow. I do collect extra CDs and promotional materials from them and if I find some one in need I provide the same to them when I meet with them.
I do meet with people from time to time from this CD forum, at a chosen location, and we discuss pertinent matters and progress at our own pace.
I do sit on the web even into the wee hours of the night, on occasions, and delve a lot deeper into the postings on this board and find a few GOOD tangible solutions for a few. In many a case with scanitly provided information, to solve a situation that calls for a realistic solution, for individuals who depend on us. I pry a few good follow ups from a few who hide behind the anominity afforded to us by this board. I will enlarge upon it at a later date.
Back to where I left off: The door is always open and there is no pressure for anyone to buy any material or the courses from anyone. But the promotional materials and coffee is always free. So go and grab them. The seminar is always worth it and few return to it whenever they appear on the scene. Every time you learn something new. It also brings you upto date into the field of investments. I do know a lady who was a call center employee, from BG, is currently earning in six figures with their help and currently helps others too.
HERE ARE TWO MORE SEMINARS THAT ARE IN THE OFFING THIS WEEK END.
Equis Metastock and Pristine day traders are holding one at the TORONTO MARRIOTT on the 3rd November from 09:00 - 11:30. Only by invitation and I do have two tickets with me for their SEMINAR.
E-TRADE is holding a full day SEMINAR called Technical Analysis Summit on SATURDAY the 3rd November, at the Metro Toronto Convention center Hall "F", 225 Front Street West, TORONTO from 08:30 to 17:00 hrs. Go and attend it if you do have the time and the desire to attend and find out what it is that they are providing as education. I cannot attend both but will try to make the first one and the tail end of the other to collect some more reading materials.
Good Luck
Have a nice week end.
Freddie.
