Are there any practising lawyers on this forum?I am a lawyer from India and planning to continue in the same field after coming to canada.(I am landing in canada in April'08.)
Can you please guide me about the same.Your suggestions, advices are welcome.
Hala,
Check out this link. You'll find everything you need for getting your legal credentials evaluated.

I would suggest that you apply for the evaluation before coming here as they need your degrees and details of your marks sent directly from your legal institution. It is much easier to have that information sent while you're in India.
Depending on your marks they'll ask you to write between 5 to 14 challenge exams in 2-3 years of completing your evaluation. You must have at least IInd division to qualify.
Hala,
Here is an announcement that was posted on 10-09-07 for the use of all of the prospective immigrants, who have gone part way through the system and are now ready to get most of the spade work completed at the INDIAN end, prior to landing, at a location of their choice, with their curent educational background and I thought I will bring it back to their attention once again and to you also for you to get to take advantage of the same, in due course and benefit by it.
Hope this helps.
Good Luck and thanks for asking.
Freddie.
