Hellow CD's.
Does any of you know "Shop" or "Facility" who will buy used furniture.
The reason i was asksing is...i am planning to take a long vaccation and would like to sell all my household goods before i leave.

Some one can ask me why a shop..when u can put an advertisement in classified or stick not at apartment entrance..

but i dont want the hassle of people keep calling me or making my home like a market with no surity that they will buy.

Ontop of that i wanted to keep the good untill the day before i leave the country.
Hence i keep searching for a store who can buy all together and take responsibility of moving on a specific date (may be i get less money, but its worth).

Any suggestion or help will be appreciated

You should put ads in CD classifiefds and / or open a Moving Sale / Garage Sale on a Weekend. offer some free stuff along with purchases. hopwfully the things might go
For garage sale and moving sale you can put up small street sign boards on the street / preferably corner of the street, usually these sign boards are available in waltmart etc.

Thanks Naudurivsm for the advise,
I guess as i explained, i dont want that hassle of advertising on streets and marketing by showing free stuff....
ontop of it..i dont know the date i am leaving..as i am waiting for my citizenship formalities to be completed and will be leaving immediately after i get my passport.

The worst thing is i am bit shy in those bargaining matters...that's the reason i am searching for a shop who can evaluate the prices and take them in one shot

Madhu,
In case you are likely to come back to the GTA after the long vacation, You could store it at the storage facilities. Works out pretty cheap, even if you want to come back after a year.
But if you really are not sure that you would ever return, the only option in the GTA is to sell it by advertising. If you put it in Craiglist, Kijiji, there would be tons of buyers who would come to you door and move the furniture themselves after buying it. The only thing is that the lower you go (price), the faster will the furnitures go.
There are also many individuals in Ontario who own nothing but a van and they buy these kind of furniture and then sell them elsewhere. If you put an advt. in Craiglist / Kijiji, you surely would land upon them. I have met such people in Garage sales where they either look to buy furniture at cheap prices to sell elsewhere or help (for a fee) other buyers to transport their big sized items.
All the best in your sale.

I can understand your issue, but remember that stores will buy at a very very low price compared to direct buyers, unless you are ready to sell at ANY price. They have to store and sell so they will add thier expenses, moving costs, storing costs, selling costs etc...

What is your location? There are over 6-8 shops in Scarborough who buy old furniture and I believe there will be more in other cities as well.

However, it will be a pity if they buy them if we believe your description that they are very expensive (and classy??).

Best luck.
Hiren

P.S. Please check you PM.
