Hi guys.
My mum will be applying for citizenship in few months..but she doesnt speak or write english...is there nayway to get citizenship without the written test and the oath test...
i heard that if ur 55 u dont have to give test..she is 50 now...and i do not want her to wait another 5 years for it...plz let me know wat cud be done here

There is no "oath test", only citizenship test.

I am sure your Mom knows how to write in English. I know she watches TV too. She can read a little at a time with the kids books from the library, by watching series like the Sesame Street and the other materials that are available in the libraries. Use the same extensively.
They also have classes for new immigrants who want to learn English. 'English as a second language'. (ESL) They just had their week long session just ending on the 18th of November. (Look for community News.) It is free for New immigrants. If they are held anywhere nearby and she can walk to the location, then you can tell her where it is. You be there with her for the first class.
Alternately teach her a little at a time at home and You will see that she will be writing a thesis on the Canadain Immigration in the next five years.
That will be a surprise. Will also get her a very good footing here.
Why don't you try it out.
